our economy

it feels like the beginning of the end.

where is the light at the end of the tunnel?
where is the greener grass on the other side?
where is the knight in shining armor?

this certainly is no fairytale because i don't
see us having a happily ever after...

The economy is headed for a recession and there is nothing we can do to stop it at this point. Everything I've read points to 3-5 years being the recovery time, which I think is optimistic. I suspect that until we get rid of our reliance on foreign oil and can get some of our larger industries commoditized (health care, mortgages, etc) then we're going to stay in the same place we're at.

This is the first time I will have ever voted for a president because I feel that will largely affect my daily income if I don't choose the right candidate for the job.

Please vote and encourage everyone you know to do so. This year your vote can count more than it ever has in previous elections. They're saying more people will likely vote in this election than any in history and many states which have had a history of being one political party may change for the first time in decades. For instance Indiana has had a republican majority for 40 years (since 1968) but they suspect this year it may change or be very close.

Work hard, save money wherever you can, and put in place a family budget if you don't have one. I highly recommend www.mvelopes.com if you're not using a system that works for you guys now. Everyone should always do it, but in these trying times you'll need it more than ever.
